How I clean my brushes..

Ég byrja á því að láta volgt vatn renna úr krananum. Finn svo til alla burstana mína sem ég ætla mér að þvo í þetta skiptið og hef þá tilbúna við hliðiná vaskinum.

I start by letting warm water flow from the tap. Then I place all my dirty brushes beside the sink. 

Allir augnburstarnir mínir eru á efri myndinni og allir andlitsburstarnir á þeirri neðri.

All my eye-brushes are on the picture above and all my face-brushes on the one below.

Næst finn ég til ólífuolíu (það má vera hvaða ólífuolía sem er) og Baby Shampoo.

Next, I find olive oil and my Baby Shampoo.

Þá er það bara að byrja: 

-Þú tekur ekki nema dropa af sjampóinu og setur í lófann.

-You squeeze a pea-sized drop of the baby shampoo into your palm.

-Svo tekurðu bursta og bleytir hann..

---

-Then you wet your brush..

-Það þarf að passa upp á að maður bleyti ekki svæðið þar sem burstahárin mæta skaftinu á burstanum því þá getur bleytan farið í límið sem heldur hárunum og á endanum losna þau frá eða skaftið dettur af.

-You need to be careful not to wet the area where the brush hairs meet the brush shaft, because then the glue that holds it together might loosen and in the end the brush starts to shed or the shaft falls off. 

-Þegar kemur að því að þvo varalitapensla þá þarftu að nota olíuna. Ég nota yfirleitt olíuna fyrst. Þá set ég dropa af henni í lófann og nudda svo penslinum fram og til baka þar til allur litur er farinn úr pensinum. Því næst nota ég sjampóið og nudda restina úr. Maður sér strax þegar burstinn er orðinn hreinn því þá hætta að koma óhreinindi í vaskinn frá burstanum.

-When it comes to cleaning lipstick brushes it is time to use the olive oil. I pour a small amount into the palm of my hand. Then I rub the brush back and forth until all the color has been rinsed out. Then I use the shampoo.

-Eftir að hafa þvegið hvern og einn bursta þá raða ég þeim á handklæði. Ég passa mig alltaf að móta burstana meðan þeir eru blautir svo þeir haldi forminu.. Svo er einnig mikilvægt að burstar sem geta "staðið" standi ekki til þerris af sömu ástæðu og ekki má bleyta endann.

-After cleaning each brush I put them on a towel so they can dry. I always make sure to shape them the right way when they're wet so they'll keep their shape. Also be sure not to let any brushes dry while upright, for the same reason you shouldn't wet the roots.

Í þetta skiptið þvoði ég alla burstana mína nema einhverja 4-5 og það tók u.þ.b. 50 mínútur. 

Ég þvæ burstana mína alltaf seinnipart kvölds. 

Núna er best að leyfa þykkari burstunum (andlitsburstunum) að þorna svona yfir nótt, en þynnri burstarnir (augnburstarnir) verða flestir þurrir eftir svona 2-3 tíma.

This time I washed all my brushes except for maybe 4-5 and it took about 50 minutes.

I always clean my brushes in the evening.

Now it's best to let the thicker brushes (the face-brushes) dry over night, but most of the thinner brushes (the eye-brushes) will be dry after about 2-3 hours.
